The challenge: London to Paris on a bike!
The stats:
- 20 cyclists from SW offices across the UK
- 2 Mancunian”roadies” in a hired white van
- 220 miles in 4 days
- £3,800+ raised so far
The story:
This year’s charity ride involved a 20-strong team of brave Sanderson Weatherall volunteers.
Together, they decided to ‘up the stakes’ on the outings of previous years, by adding an international dimension with a 220 mile London to Paris excursion that involved four long days in the saddle.
The SW team hit the tarmac on the morning of Thursday 6 October completing their intrepid journey early afternoon Sunday 9 October 2011 – only getting off their bikes when travelling across the wet bit between Newhaven and Dieppe!
The 2011 riders were: Liz McLoughlin, Tom Tawn, Michael Greenbank, Craig Newton, Corrine Lee, Lauren Atkinson, Mark Roofe, Simon Heather, Aidan King, Paul Toolan, Dan Brown, Emma Parsons, David Murray, Adam O’Neale, Kate Twizell, Nick Heap, Kathy Nicholas, Mark Perkins, Bob Fletcher and James Wall.
The riders raised money for this year’s chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support, and hope to hit £4,500 when the final total has been calculated.
A ‘big well done’ to all that took part and a massive ‘thank you’ to everyone who has made a donation so far!
All donations go directly to the charity, see www.justgiving.com/sw2011 for more information.
