I was invited to take part in a special workshop event last week which focused on a review of the destination brand that is ‘NewcastleGateshead’.
Needless to say it was a great event, complete with plenty of lively debate – so thank you to the organisers, the NewcastleGateshead Initiative, for hosting the evening.
Since then, it’s got me thinking about what the destination has to offer individuals working in, and businesses operating in the locality as well as the aspects that make it stand out against competing locations.
For me, ‘liveability’ is a key factor. In terms of getting around Monday to Friday, the average commute is relatively hassle free. (Set to improve further with the introduction of a second tunnel!)
Outside of work, those that live in NewcastleGateshead can gain quick and easy access to coast and countryside in equal measure, the quality of life on offer is good and matched by a strong sense of regional pride and affection.
For businesses looking to retain and grow a workforce, many sectors such as manufacturing, call centres and logistics entering the area will find a wealth of hard-working, skilled staff on the doorstep.
It’s an area that is constantly on the move in terms of new sector development and it has certainly kept its pioneering spirit through work undertaken in the health, life sciences and renewable energy sectors.
I believe that NewcastleGateshead has much to offer, and I’m interesting to know how you feel about the area and its potential to pull in and retain a promising future…
